Backend Developer

IT

Remote

At Coverzen we’re changing the way insurance works. Hundreds of brokers use our platform to compare quotes, issue policies, and manage clients and documents. We bring it all into one place and automate the busywork that eats into time with clients.

We’re looking for a Backend Developer who wants to build things, ask questions, and bring ideas to the table. You’ll join a team where you can help shape the decisions that move the product forward.

Why this is interesting

The code you write lands in the daily work of the people who use Coverzen: a better integration can simplify a quote, and one piece of automation can wipe out a manual task that gets repeated dozens of times. Understanding what you’re building and why it matters is part of the job.

There’s also plenty to solve on the technical side. We connect systems from different insurance carriers, sometimes with no API available, and we build services that have to keep working even when something breaks on the other end. That takes curiosity, patience in digging into problems, and the drive to find a proper solution.

What you’ll work on

  • Microservices in TypeScript with Fastify: you’ll build new features and improve the ones we already have.
  • Service and API design: you’ll help make the technical calls, talking through the options with the team.
  • Insurance carrier integrations: you’ll connect different systems, including through web scraping and data extraction when there’s no API to work with.
  • Quality and production: you’ll write tests, take part in code reviews, and help monitor and troubleshoot after a release.
  • AI in development: you’ll use Claude Code every day to write code, explore what’s already there, and automate repetitive work.

We’d love to hear from you if

  • You’ve built backends with Node.js and TypeScript.
  • You’ve worked with Fastify, Express, NestJS, or something similar, and you’re up for working with Fastify.
  • You’ve built APIs, integrated third-party services, and contributed to an application running in production.
  • You write tests and know your way around debugging tools when you need to track down where a problem starts.
  • You can run with the work you’ve agreed to take on, and you speak up when you need a second opinion.
  • You’re curious about how the whole system fits together, and you want to take on more ownership over time.

Extra points

It’s a plus if you’ve worked with microservices and distributed systems, or with PHP and Laravel, which we use in part of our stack. Experience with web scraping, using Claude Code or other AI tools for development, and familiarity with the insurance industry are all useful too. All of these are bonuses, not requirements to apply.

What we offer

  • €40,000–50,000 gross annual salary, depending on experience.
  • Permanent employee contract.
  • Fully remote, from anywhere in Italy.
  • Budget for training and conferences.
  • Company benefits and meal vouchers.

Interested? We’d love to hear what you’ve built and what you’d like to take on in your next role.
